Who We Are.

ARIDLIFE is a non-governmental organization established by Humanitarian and Arid-land Development Specialists to support pastoralist and marginalized communities in rebuilding sustainable livelihoods. Our mission is rooted in advancing locally-led, inclusive, and resilient development across arid and semi-arid regions of the Horn of Africa.

We employ a participatory, evidence-driven approach grounded in local context and community engagement. Our work is designed to strengthen local institutions, promote sustainable systems, and contribute to regional and national development priorities. ARIDLIFE actively collaborates with governments, civil society, and development partners to promote inclusive, accountable, and locally-owned solutions.

Our Mission.

For over thirteen years, ARIDLIFE has delivered transformative programs with lasting impacts across Somalia and cross-border communities in Kenya and Ethiopia making positive impacts in:

  • Humanitarian Assistance: Providing lifesaving support to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities affected by drought, conflict, and displacement.
  • Community Empowerment: Forming and strengthening self-help groups for youth, women, and marginalized populations to enhance their participation in social and economic development.
  • Education: Supporting the education of pastoralist children through community schools, learning materials, and school feeding programs.
  • Livelihoods: Improving household incomes for subsistence farmers and pastoralist families through climate-resilient agriculture, livestock support, and market access initiatives.
  • Child Protection and Safeguarding: Providing Integrated child protection services and Buildings the advocacy capacities of local civil society organizations to promote child rights, community-based safeguarding mechanisms, and protective social norms.
